Arsenal have regained the summit of the Premier League standings with a 2-0 victory against Luton Town and moved clear the nearest team, Liverpool by just a point difference.

Martin Odegaard opened the scoring from a build up with which Kai Havertz set him up with a pass to blast home from inside of the box. The second goal followed in the latter stages of the first half but it was from an own goal from Daki Hashioka tapping home Leandro Trossard's cut-back.

Coming into the game, Arsenal needed the victory after their goalless draw against Manchester City on Sunday. The outcome of the previous game dropped the side to second place behind Liverpool in the table. With this home win, they have now climbed back up to the top spot with 68 points.

The victory extended Arsenal's unbeaten to 12-in-15 previous Premier League games and they also have the most goals scored by any top-flight team in the title race this season.

Overview

Arsenal well-dominated and controlled the game from start to the full-time whistle. Luton managed to keep the deficit moderate even though it ended as their tenth winless run in Premier League games while Arsenal moved up to the summit of the standings.

The build up to the opening goal was neatly crafted from combination of efforts inspired by Smith Rowe steal of the ball from Mpanzu. Apparently, Odegaard was left unmarked to take the shot and smacked the ball just right to beat Thomas Kaminski.

To some extent, Luton had defensive flops to blame for the loss and that was evident in the lead up to the second goal from Hashioka's own goal. Still, Arsenal were not really troubled at the back. Gabriel and William Saliba strongly keep the defence in-tact.
