Novak Djokovic Nears Carrer Mileage In Monte Carlo Masters after Defeating Alex de Minaur To Reach Semis

Novak Djokovic is on set for another career mileage after reaching is 77th ATP Masters 1000 semi-finals by beating Alex de Minaur in straight sets 7-5 6-3 in Monte-Carlo.

Minaur got on really on the offensive impressively but he began to wane later into the first set as Djokovic dominated to outlast him. It was the Australian's first appearance in the quarterfinals of Monte-Carlo and he yet gave it a good push converting his third break at 3-2 of the second set before losing the match on a break to the world number one.

Since 2015, Djokovic has not gone past the quarterfinals of the tournament - Rafael Nadal had for the most part of the time dominated the tour with 11 titles. As a two-time champion, he would have potentially met his counterpart, Carlos Alcaraz in the semis since they were drawn in the same group, but the Spaniard withdrew from playing after the draw had been announced.

With the semi-finals set against Casper Ruud, Djokovic is set for another career mileage of 1100 tour-level wins should he progress to the final and triumph for the third Masters 1000 title in Monte-Carlo. By the way, the Serbian has not played in any final of any tournament he participated in this year. Thus, winning in Monte-Carlo will double as his season's first title.
