Europa League: Liverpool Are Out As Atalanta Progress To Semi-final
Mohamed Salah scores Liverpool's only goal as Atalanta knock his side out
Liverpool are out of the Europa League with a loss to Atalanta, who will progress to the semi-finals after the Reds won 1-0 (Aggr. 1-2) in the quarterfinals second-leg tie.
Atalanta had led from their first tie and Liverpool desperately needed to win on a clean sheet to undo the deficit. They failed to get the needed goals even after Mohamed Salah had put them ahead from the first half.
Salah converted the penalty drawn Rugger's handball to Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross. The Egyptian forward sent the Italian goalkeeper, Musso diving wide as the ball went down bottom right.
Liverpool made several efforts to complete the comeback but the Italians held on through rest of the game to secure the victory nonetheless, for their first semi final appearance in a major European competition since 1987-88.
