Cristiano Ronaldo Sets For Huge Cash-out As Player Wins Legal battle With Juventus
Cristiano Ronaldo 'wins legal battle against Juventus as court rules for Italian giants to pay former star over £8.3MILLION' after he deferred months of pay during Covid pandemic.
According to reports, In September, Ronaldo - who now plays for Saudi side Al-Nassr - decided to take legal action against Juventus over unpaid wages during the Covid-19 pandemic; But further clarifications from Juventus that ‘Ronaldo Paper’ that emerged during investigations into the so-called salary manoeuvres was nonbinding and will review the arbitration board’s decision.
Juventus said the private agreements with Cristiano Ronaldo were nonbinding, so the arbitration court rejected the player’s request to cancel the compensation reduction and fulfil the supplementing agreement. However, the court also ascertained Juventus' ‘pre-contractual liability’ which means the club must pay nearly €10m to their ex-star.
The club also suggest this is not the end of the story as they are now reviewing the decision made by the arbitration board and didn’t rule out any initiative to preserve their rights.
Ronaldo, 39, agreed to defer wages of playing football in Italy was halted by the Covid pandemic in the 2020-21 season. The Portuguese had claimed he was owed more than £17m by his former club.
The Court of Arbitration ruled the club should pay what the player would have received after tax and other deductions. Although, Ronaldo later left Juventus in August 2021 after spending three seasons at the club, where he scored 101 goals in 134 appearances in black and white.
