What a disappointing start to the quarterfinals it was for Real Madrid to have drawn 3-3 at home against Manchester City in the first-leg tie in front of their ever cheering crowd?

Both sides were meeting for the first time since the final last season, and as City are the defending champions, Real knew they were up against an uphill task to undo the defeat that gave City their first Champions League silverware. Real let out the pace from the start but the brilliance of Bernando Silva gave Premier League side the lead.

The Spaniards later took the lead from behind and that goals resulting from that were just spectacular strikes from Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo respectively. Though, the former's was later counted as own goal for Ruben Diaz as the Eduardo's shot deflected on him in flight. Still, the attempt was rightly taken and such was superb. Likewise was Rodrygo's.

Should there be a game that could be said City were set to lose, it was that game as Real were more pacy and energetic than the visitors - Pep Guardiola's men were nearly sapped of strength even Erling Haaland was closely marked by Antonio Rudiger. It later happened that two long range shots from Phil Foden and Gvardio restored the side in the lead. Real were stunned. Valverde later got a volley into the back of the net for Real's equaliser.

City earned a resounding draw from the game but they had to stem the pace and shore up their defense otherwise both Rodrygo and Vinicius would neatly burrow through. It was not just an exciting game, it was really technical as City had to quickly address their offensive approach to have control of the game.

Great job from Silva whose experience really brought out the difference in City, and besides his opening goal, he facilitated the assist that led to Gvardio's goal. Though the Portuguese is the oldest player in the team, he yet played a significant role in the game. Modric was that other in the other side.
