Champions League: Kylian Mbappe Leads PSG To Knock Barcelona Out In Comeback To Reach Semifinals

 

Paris Saint-Germain have sent Barcelona out of the Champions League with a comeback from one-goal deficit from their previous tie to win 4-1 (Aggr. 6-4) with Kylian Mbappe scoring a brace in the second-leg tie at Nou Camp. 

10-man Barcelona had moved ahead with an opening goal from Raphinha's finish of Lamine Yamal's cut-back before PSG leveled with Dembele smacking home Barcelo's cut-back that missed Mbappe in front of the goal after Araujo was red carded. 

Vitinha sent the Ligue 1 side clear blasting the ball home from the edge of the box before Mbappe added in the third scoring from a penalty drawn by Dembele. The French striker, Mbappe, later scored the fourth goal after a loose ball from a defensive error landed on his path and blasted the ball home from close range for the winner. 

It will be the first time that Paris Saint-Germain will playing in the last four of the Champions League since reaching the final of 2020/21 losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich. Their farthest had often been the quarterfinals. 

Overview 

The game picked up really quick and offensive from both sides with Barcelona making moves on the counter and PSG all out for goals. Both sides goals were rightly earned and came off from there about same efforts from a cut-back. However, PSG had more presence in their hosts' box and could not make much out of their fastbreak until Dembele's equaliser. 

Much of Lewandowski wasn't seen in the first half and Mbappe managed to make his presence felt with a near miss that could have sent the side clear. Araujo's dismissal left Barcelona one-man, which was rightly given as Barcola already won the ball. Meanwhile, the winger had a little too much touch on the ball and Stegen was on-rushing to cover the goal. 

Just as the tackle that got Araujo sent out was avoidable, Cancelo went on Dembele just too heavy to get a penalty for his tackle. Barcelona appeared frustrated from the initial decision that send Araujo but Vintiha's goal was a sensational stroke of shot. Well-deserved victory for PSG in a com2back.
