Brazilian Centre-back Leaves Chelsea In Summer
Thiago Silva, a long-serving Chelsea centre-back is set to leave the club this summer following the player's farewell message released online.
It hasn't been the best of season for Chelsea despite huge spending on transfers last summer. The club is neither a contender for the Premier League trophy nor any major European competitions as they have struggled through in this campaign.
Speaking about this club after spending four seasons, the Brazilian admitted the team "means a lot" him, though he intended to spend four years at the club and not more than that.
"It's already hard saying goodbye in the most normal of circumstances," said Silva. "When there is a mutual love, it's even harder."
Silva stands to leave as a free agent since his contract runs out at the end of the season. He joined Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in 2020. Amongst his achievements at Stanford Bridge was lifting three trophies with the side including the UEFA Champions League in 2020/21.
