Manchester United earned an important 2-0 home victory against Everton from two spot-kick that ruined the visitors chance of a comeback.
Marcus Rashford laid a pass in the path Alejandro Garnacho, who while in possession of the ball was dropped in the box and drew a penalty. Bruno Fernandes took the spot-kick and blasted the ball home for the opening goal.
In the latter stages of the half, Garnacho dribbled through Everton's defense and was dropped by Godfrey for yet another penalty. This time, Rashford took the spot-kick and sent down right corner while Jordan Pickford dived wide.
As Everton remained winless in 11 games in the Premier League, United brought their streak to five wins in seven previous games and consolidated position in the top-seven with 47 points.
Overview
United earned the victory well and Everton really played well enough to have not conceded goals from spot-kick except for the careless tackles in the box that handed those out. That to some extent exposed the frustrations in the defense of the visitors in the first half.
Brilliant leg works from Garnacho got the Blues in the unpleasant situations and both Rashford and Fernandes rightly took the kicks.
