Premier League: City Outclass United In Manchester Derby

Manchester City come from behind to beat Manchester United 3-1 in a derby that witnessed a double from Phil Foden to guide the side through.

United kicked off the scoring with Marcus Rashford's sensational 25-yard shot that beat Ederson to the goal before Foden leveled for City, smacking a 20-yard shot home after returning from halftime break. The forward later put City in the lead, rifling home Julian Alvarez's pass following a one-two ball exchange between the pair.

Erling Haaland seized the stoppages to score the third goal following a defensive flop from Amrabat and curled the ball down bottom right of the goal. It was his 18th Premier League goal this season and his 53rd in 56 matches since he joined City from Borussia Dortmund.

Never before had City come from behind to beat United in a derby. They lost in their previous 15 meetings with United when they trailed but Pep Guardiola has now turned the tide with the club's first.

Quick Overview

Brilliant start from United to have taken the lead with a fantastic finish from Rashford. That lead, however, was short shortlived as City come from behind to take the victory. United initially looked sharp on the counter and effectively tearing through City's defense until later into that first half.

Besides adding two goals to the scoresheet, Foden had been very impactful on the game and had earlier set up Haaland for a goal which the Norweigian wasted in front of an empty. Haaland later compensated for that with the winner in the second half.

United's form dropped significantly after Rashford was replaced and that potentially might have impeded the side from making a comeback after City took the lead

Great job from Kevin de Bruyne as always and Julian Alvarez who replaced Dokun. At the back, City could not ask for more from Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake. For United, with Rashford and Mainoo being replaced there was so only much they could do as City led the game.
