Premier League: Arsenal Claim Stunning Victory Against Sheffield United
Arsenal have earned an important victory with a 6-0 away victory against Sheffield United with five goals coming in in the first half alone for a club-record halftime lead.
Arsenal moved ahead in just five minutes into the game with Martin Odegaard striking home Gabriel Martinelli's pass. Bukayo Saka added in the second goal, latching down the right flank before having his cross deflected home by Jayden Bogle. Martinelli later smacked home Jakub Kiwior's from inside of the box for the third goal.
Martinelli assisted with the four with a pass to Kai Havertz to steer home for the fourth and the fifth came off another effort from Saka's cut-back into the path of Declan rice to hit home past Ivo Grbic. The lead extended even further after halftime as Havertz released a pass onto Ben White to strike home for the sixth goal.
The halftime lead was the biggest ever for Arsenal in the Premier League and they have once again closed gap with closest team, Manchester City by a point and trail table leaders, Liverpool by just two points.
Quick Overlook
An unimpressive start from Sheffield coupled with avoidable defensive errors that gave away the early goals from the early stages against an Arsenal side that could not afford to draw or lose to keep their Premier League title hope in view. By all standards, Sheffield did not do well at holding off Arsenal from dominating their box even though there was a little sense of resilience in the team midway of the first period.
Brilliant display of skills from Arsenal for much of the game, that seemed convenient for the visitors over the hosts that struggled to find their rhythm throughout but fairly improved on their defense after halftime to avoid conceding by wider margin.
