Model To Represent Saudi Arabia In Upcoming Miss Universe Beauty Pageant

Saudi Arabia for the first time will be participating in the upcoming Miss Universe beauty pageant which will be held in Mexico.

The Gulf country will be represent by a model by the name of Rumi Alqahtani and will be the second contestant to participate in the beauty event after Bahrain's Lujane Yacoub, who participated in last year's event. 

Rumi, 27, announced the development via her Instagram handle. She is known to be a University graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Dentistry and also multi lingual. Prior to this, she had participated in both home and continent beauty contest and won amongst which was Miss Middle East. 

Gulf countries are known for their huge oil deposit, but recently they have been going wider than that. Last year, Qatar hosted the Fifa World Cup for the time side in the Gulf. Saudi Arabia has hosted one of the biggest boxing events in history and the country's football league hosts one of the biggest names in the sport.
