Grigor Dimitrov Thrills, Knocks Out Carlos Alcaraz To Reach Miami Open Semis

Grigor Dimitrov had a sensational match against top-seeded player, Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-final which he won in straight sets, 6-2 6-4 to book his place in the Last Four of the Miami Open. 

From the opening set, Alcaraz had been considerably under the heat of Dimitrov's forehand and later rallied in the second set but yet lost as the Bulgarian won a service break for a match point. In both sets, Dimitrov closed each on a break with a thrilling dominance of the court. 

The match  however should have been wrapped up by 4-1 of the second set, but Alcaraz was resilient, fought back to break to love at 4-4 before Dimiteov recharged and won his 4-in-8 breaks to win the match. 

"I came into this match very focussed and I think extremely clear what I had to do," said Dimitrov. "Sometimes simplicity is genius. It is very very had to do it especially when you are playing against an opponent like that [Alcaraz]."

The venue witnessed a star-studded attendance of the likes of NBA star Jimmy butler, former heavyweight boxing champion, Mike Tyson and many others. Having won the match, Dimitrov will meet in the semi-final Alexander Zverev who defeated Fabian Marozsan in straight sets, 6-3 7-5.
