Vin Diesel Reassert Fast & Furious Will Close With Next Instalment
As expected, Fast & Furious is winding down with its last entry already in the making. However, should there be a doubt over Vin Diesel's plans on the franchise, that might have just been cleared in a recent statement he released online and he has the film long-standing fans to thank for that.
As Diesel had once said, F11 is intended to be the closing instalment film but the twist there is that is expected to come in two-part closing series. Even though the franchise has been a huge success at the box office, with its most grossing series being, Furious 7 with $1.51b, and it latest, Fast X taking home $723m globally amidst mixed reactions, the film is deemed better closed at the point.
In the statement, it has it that FF11 is the "grand finale" and he would want that to be a way to celebrate the commitment received from the fans since its inception in 2001 with The Fast and The Furious starring Brian O'Conner (Walker).
"Thank you for being the backbone of this global saga that because of you, transcend the screen," the latter part of the statement reads. "This grand finale is not just an ending, it's a celebration of the incredible family we've built together."
Already, works are reportedly ongoing on the film except that it was inhibited by the industrial strike of actors and writers. But, as Screen Rant has it, works on the script have returned and it is set for release in 2015.
Thus, is the closing instalment going to bring the franchise to an end in total? That potentially might not be as already there is a Dwayne Johnson's standalone spinoff from the franchise, Hobbs and Shaw which was a success and it is expected to have a sequel over time. Besides that, more spinoffs are also expected.
