Premier League: Chelsea Come From Behind To Beat C. Palace In Stoppages
Chelsea left it late into the stoppages to come from behind to beat Crystal Palace 3-1 with Conor Gallagher scoring a brace to see the side through London derby at Selhurst Park.
Palace had taken the lead from Jefferson Lerma's neat long-range shot that on the half hour before Conor Gallagher side-footed home Malo Gusto's cross from close-range.
The remaining goals later came in from fast breaks in the stoppages inspired by Conor Palmer, who upon being released for a counter, rightly picked out Gallagher for the finish leading to Chelsea's second goal, and minutes later, Palmer's cross picked out Enzo Fernandez, who steered home the winning goal from inside the box.
Chelsea won the game to claim the needed maximum points to move up to the middle of the table in 10th place and restored their quest for top-seven finish for a European comeptition qualification, which they now trail by two points.
Quick Overview
Palace, for much of the first half, played defensive well to lead despite not having much of the control of the game until the interval when Chelsea came back stronger. That resilience from the hosts was later put off after a series of substitutions by Mauricio Pochettino with the introduction of Raheem Sterling to bolster the team.
Delightful finish from Lerma put Palace in comfortable lead and the team was looking well intact yet at the back against Chelsea even after Gallagher pulled one. But, coming out in search for the leading goal gave Chelsea the needed pockets of chances for fast breaks that culminated in the two stoppage time goals from Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez.
