Grammys 2024: Burna Boy, Davido, Others Miss Out As Taylor Swift Makes History

 


Nigerian artists missed out on all the categories they were nominated for at the 66th annual ceremony of the Grammy Awards, which was hosted by Trevor Noah on Sunday night. 

Amidst those loses for Nigerian artists, South African singer Tyla won Best African Music Performance award for her song Water, in the same category with songs like Amapiano by Asake featuring Olamide, City Boys by Burna Boy, Unavailable by David featuring Musa Keys. and Rush by Ayra Starr.

Amongst Nigerian artists, Burna Boy receieved most nominations with four followed by Davido with three and one each for Asake, Tems and Ayra Starr. Both Burna Boy and Davido also missed on Best Global Music Album to Asian band, Shakti for This Moment.

It was a historic night for Taylor Swift, who became the first female artist to win Album of the Year award for the fourth time, which she did with her 2022 album, Midnights. However, she missed out on Record of the Year to Miley Cyrus' 'Flower' and Song of the Year to Billie Eilish's 'What Was I Made For?'.

Ahead of the ceremony, Sza received the highest nominations with nine nods. in spite of that, she missed out on most but finally won her first solo Grammys with SOS for Best Progressive R&B album and Snooze for best R&B Song.
