Premier League: Liverpool Outclass Chelsea In Five-Goal Thriller
Liverpool have continued to maintan the front row of the Premier League standings with a 4-1 defeat of Chelsea at Anfield Stadium and are now five-point clear nearest rivals, Manchester City.
Diogo Jota opened the scoring with an individual effort, barrelling through Chelsea's defensive before whipping the ball into the back of the net. The second goal followed afterwards with Conor Bradley finishing off a fastbreak inspired by Luis Diaz.
Chelsea went three goals down as Bradley's cross found Dominik Szoboszlai for a header from inside the box eighteen into the back of the net. Blues stepped up their game in the quest of a comeback and pulled one back as Christopher Nkunku neatly smacked home Carney Chukwuemeka's assist.
Diaz finally got his goal and scored the winner, delightfuly tapping home Darwin Nunez's cross in the latter stage of the game.
Liverpool, after winning the game, ended their eight games winless run against Chelsea in all competitions and lead the standings with 51points.
Quick Overview
This was not the best performance Chelsea would hope to remember as they were neatly defeated by the Reds even without their goalscorer, Mohamed Salah. Liverpool, effectively dominated from the first period of the game ,and when Chelsea tried to fightback in the latter stages, they yet could not fend off the outslaught from their opponents as they went on to extend the margin.
Defense-wise, it was seemingly a flop for Chelsea. In the other hand, it was a satisfactory performance for Jurgen Klopp in the end, however, ahead of the club is yet another big game and that will be against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
