Premier League: Kevin de Bruyne Leads Man. City In Comeback To Beat Newcastle
Manchester City made a stunning comeback to beat Newcastle 3-2 with a delightful late stoppage time goal from Oscar Bobb at St. James Park.
Bernardo Silva put City in the lead with a backheel flick before Newcastle responded with superb finishes from individual efforts from both Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon respectively in the first half.
For much of the game time, Newcastle had a long hold of the lead until that changed with Kevin de Bruyne scoring from the edge of box to equalise for City. Bobb's followed for the winner, rounding Martin Dubravka and a defender before steering the ball home following Kevin's cross.
Kevin's goal was his 100th against Newcastle in the Premier League and Bobb's was his first for City which made him the youngest (19) to score a stoppage time goal for the side.
Quick Overview
City could not ask for a better comeback that that from such an electrifying match. Newcastle let it slide and wasted off the glaring chance from fast break that Issa should have put them in a comfortable lead with.
With Kevin, City was able to loosen the staunch defensive hold of Newcastle and the Belgium was not short of classic on his return from injury spell. Likewise, Bobb's composure on the ball for the winner was just the right bargain. Pep Guardiola really brought his technical edge with bringing on the two players to get the victory.
For much of the second half, City went on the offensive with five at the front and two left at the back. With Newcastle unable to find a counter to lessen their offense, bolstering the attack with Kevin and Bobb worked effectively right for the side.
