FA Cup: Chelsea Beat Preston To Progress To Fourth Round

Armando Broja scores the opener for Chelsea against Preston in the FA Cup

Chelsea have progressed to the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup with a massive 4-0 win against Preston at Stanford Bridge.

Armando Broja put the Blues in the lead with a glance header from Malo Gusto's cross and Thiago Silva doubled the lead eight minutes later nodding home Cole Palmer's cross.

As Preston's defense crumbled, Raheem Sterling scored the third with a dazzling finish from a free-kick. He later on assisted with Enzo Fernandez's goal for the fourth goal with five remaining.

The victory put Chelsea on the track for a silverware contest this season despite their sloppy run in the Premier League which has left out of the contest for the league title.

Quick Overview

Chelsea won the match convincingly but the four-goal thriller initially saw good efforts from Preston to have kept the game goalless until the interval. Good leg works and sharpenness at the goal produced the goals for the Blues as they overran their opponents after halftime.

With three goals scored within the space of 11 minutes, Preston could not find the chance for a comeback as Chelsea burrowed repeatedly through into their half until they got the fourth goal. Chelsea have now progressed to the fourth round of the competition with a well-deserved victory.
