EFL Cup: M. Boro Edge Near Final After Chelsea's Loss Of Semis First-leg
Middlesborough are halfway through to the final of the Carabao EFL Cup after defeating Chelsea 1-0 at home in the semi-finals first-leg.
Chelsea let up the game in a fast break with Isaiah Jones latching onto an aerial ball, and let a cut-back into the six-yard box for Hayden Hackney to tap home for the opening goal.
Meanwhile, there were multiple of scoring chances wasted by Chelsea. Cole Palmer alone had four glaring chances missed amongst which was a rebound from Endo Fernandez's effort before an empty net.
The hosts did deserved the victory considering the efforts put into the game, and prior to the winning goal, there had been set piece of Chelsea committed offences that would have giving away a penalty.
Great game from Michael Carrick-led side against his former team, Chelsea and for having to win despite injury blows to two of his players in the early stages of the game.
