Liverpool have edged closer to the Carabao EFL Cup final at Wembley Stadium as they came from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 in the semi-final first-leg tie at Anfield.

Fulham took the lead in the first half with a delightful finish from Willian, who steered home a loose ball from  close range following Virgil van Dijk's defensive error. Curtis Jone later pulled one back for the Reds after the interval and struck a 25-yard shot to beat Bernd Leno to the goal.

Three minutes Cody Gakpo settled the game for Liverpool with the winning goal, tapped home from close range a cut-bck from Darwin Nunez.

For much of the game, Fulham played effectively well and were able to contain the hosts. That lasted until the second half as the introduction of Gakpo and Nunez who assisted with both goals changed the game.

The Reds manager. Jurgen Klopp fielded the right substitutes and got a deserved victory. Having won the game, Liverpool remained unbeaten in all competitions so far this season.
