Brisbane International: Grigor Dimitrov Wins Final For First ATP Title In Seven Years

Grigor Dmimitrov will be heading to the Australian Open on an impressive note having won his first ATP title in seven year at the Brisbane International.

Top seed, Holger Rune was defeated by the Bulgarian in straight-set, 7-6(5) 6-4 in the final on Sunday with Dmimtrov wining the only break point  in the second set at 3-2.

En-route to final, the two-time champion defeated British vetran Andy Murray in the early stages, and later on Jordan Thompson, who knocked out Rafael Nadal in the quarter-final. By the way, Rafael was making his comeback to the track after nearly a year hiatus over an injury.

Speaking after the match, Dimitrov recalled winning his maiden ATP title at the tournament in 2013 and is delightful to return to winner's circle once again at the same competition.

"It's been a while since I held one of these, it's a bit emotional," said the 32-year-old. "I'm very thankful to lift the trophy again."
