AFCON 2024: Mohamed Bayo's Goal Leads 10-Guinea To Draw Against Cameroon
Cameroon come from behind to hold 10-man Guinea to a 1-1 draw in the group stage game of the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Guinea moved ahead in the early stages of the game as Mohamed Bayo smacked a loose ball to beat Fabrice Onda to the goal in a set piece before the side lose Francois Kamaro to a red card offence in the stoppage minutes of the first half.
Cameroon quickly made most of the chance had minutes after the interval as Georges-Kevin N'Koudou's cross rightly landed on Frank Magri for the header that beat Ibrahim Kone to the net for the equaliser.
The game went through with both sides unable to take the lead, and for the Guniea side, the credit goes to Kamaro, who forced a superb save of Karl Toko Ekambi's effort with three minutes remaining.
Quick Overview
The Guinean side brought the best composure to the game, and in spite of the losing Kamaro, they held their ground and maintained great displicine in the defence to keep the scores. The Cameroonian made something out of the advantage they had from the moment of that delightful delivery from N'koudou to Magri.
Harold Moukoudi did a great job at keeping the Guinean attackers in check at the back while N'koudou kept barrelling through the left flank to get the ball across into the 18-yard box. Nevertheless, Mohamed Bayo was effective at troubling the defense of the Cameroonian. Besides scoring the opening goal for the side, Bayo was the Guinean side's star player of the day.
