AFCON 2024: Egypt Comeback Twice To Draw Against Ghana
Ghana disappointingly missed out on winning after Egypt comeback twice to draw 2-2 in the second game of the group stages of the 2024 AFCON.
Mohammed Kudus had put the Ghanians ahead with a curly slide shot on the stoppage time of first half before Omar Marmoush finished off a back-pass error to level the lead for Egypt after the interval.
Ghana retook the lead from Kudus smacking Odoi's through ball past El Shenawy to the goal before Mostafa Mohamed equalised again for Egypt following a set piece marred by defensive error.
The victory put Egypt in the second position of Group B with two points trailing table leaders, Cape Verde as Ghana dropped to bottom of the table.
Quick Overview
From the start, the game was energetic for both sides, holding off attacks in their halves to keep the scoreline even until the stoppage time goal from Kudus changed the outlook of the game.
The second half was different even without Salah, as Egypt comeback twice to force a draw despite trailing earlier into the half. They did so by going offensive regardless of their top striker who limbed out of the game.
Ghana really let the game slid of their reach for both goals against them that came off from back-pass errors. However, that was not to say that the Egyptian side played well enough to get something out of the game.
