Victor Osimhen Receives Italian Footballers' Association Footballer Honour
Nigeria international and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has been voted the Italian Footballers' Association Footballer of the Year following his contribution to his team during the 2022/23 season campaign.
Amongst players nominated for the prize include Mike Maignan, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Theo Hernandez, Nicolo Barella, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Rafa Leao, Alessandro Bastoni, Kim Min Jae,. and Stanislav Lobotska.
Having won the prize voted for by peers, the 24-year-old joined players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Abrahimovic both of whom have previously received the award.
Napoli snapped their Serie A title-drought of 33 years last season during which Osimhen contributed 26 goals and doubled as the league highest goalscorer for the season. The performance also earned the striker nominations for both Ballon d'Or and Fifa Player of the Year Award alongside players like Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Lionel Messi.
Osimhen has just come out of injury spell and already has netted six league goals So far in this campaign. Furthermore, there have been speculations over his future at the club after rumours of his link to Chelsea for a potential move in the summer transfer window.
