Quick Overview
Exciting, exhausting and highly energetic game from the start that witnessed the unfortunate scene of an own goal from Heung-min shortly after his magnificient finish from a break. Apparently, Spurs appeared frustrated after the unlucky comeback from City and their tgame empo gradually stemmed leading up to Foden's strike.
Spurs were untidy in the defense as Doku wrench the side from the left wing to create space for scoring chances. A couple of those chances were wasted by the goal post amongst which was Doku's. Meanwhile, City have remained on top attack wise.
Coming into the second half, it was a different game from Spurs. They considerably slowed down their pace, doing a lot of short passes to keep the ball. Eventually, it paid off with a clever break into the box for Govani's strike.
Spurs having to keep the ball with passes against desperate hosts soon led to Yves Bissouma losing the ball for an offensive that sent City back in the lead. Moments after Ange Postecoglou brought on Richarlison, Spurs built up pressure from the left before Johnson's cross offloaded the ball on Kulusevski for an eventful strike.
The ending piece of the game turned controversial and left City distraughted over the referee's decision to award a free-kick while Grealish was on a counter that would have sent City back in the lead. Nevertheless, both sides well-deserved their goals despite the controversial decison.
