Premier League: Liverpool Come From Behind To Beat Crystal Palace

Liverpool came from behind to claimed the needed three points to go atop the table after defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park Stadium with the hosts playeing 10-man for big chunk of the second half.

Palace moved in the lead from a penalty drawn by Quansah which Jean-Philippe Mateta converted for the opener. Just after Jordan Ayew was red carded, Mo Salah struck in a set piece after Gakpo's cross from free-kick and his shot deflected to beat Sam Johnstone to the goal.

Liverpool later took the lead in the added minutes with an individual effort from Harvey Elliot, who latched on the ball received from Salah's pass and released a 20-yard shot to beat Johnstone to the goal.

Harvey later picked up Luis Diaz with a through pass for a break into the box, which the Brazilian flicked over Johnston into the goal but he was caught in offside and the goal was cancelled.

Liverpool have now moved to the summit of EPL table with 37 points, leading closest rivals Arsenal by just a point. Further more, Salah's goal was his 200th goal for the side in all competitions.

Quick Overview

Liverpool needed the maximum points to move up the table potentially briefly but Palace were much desiring to lead which they eventually got after multiple attempts. Though the opener was from a penalty, Liverpool had just escaped one in the later stages of the first half for Virgil van Dijk's challenge on Edouard.

Palace forced a couple of Allison's saves in the first period and after halftime, the situation persisted for Liverpool as the hosts made repeated attempts to burrow through the defense. Since they had just conceded from a penalty, Liverpool were careful wading off onslaught from the Eagles.

Jordan Ayew for much of the game had been the playmaker for Palace and sending him off spelt an unpleasant moment for side with Salah's goal just a minute after.  Previously, perplexed Liverpool found solace in the equalizer and the host's playing 10-man before Harvey struck.
