Premier League: Doucoure, Lewis Dobbin Shine As Everton Hold On To Beat Chelsea

Everton have maintained their unbeaten run through three league matches and defeated Chelsea 2-0 at Goodison Park amidst the EPL 10-point deduction that sent the side to the bottom of the table.

The hosts have just returned from a decisive 3-0 victory against Newcastle United and having to host Chelsea did not fall short of expectations as they lived up to the offensive play from their opponents.

Abdoulaye Doucoure put the side ahead after Roberton Sanchez rushed on to save Calvert-Lewin flick but the loose ball rolled into his path and sliced home a delight shot through for the opening goal earlier into the second half.

After a long persisted effort to level the scores, Chelsea eventually lost out in the injury time with Lewis Dobbin rifling home the loose ball from Dorde Petrovic who replaced Sanchez following a corner.

Having won the game, the Toffees remained in the 17th position on 13 points as they continue to make their way out of the red zone. More so, Dobbin's goal was his first for the side in the Premier League.

Quick Overview

Everton knew they needed to keep their winning streak on and they did just that in the hard-fought match to come out victtorious. Though, it did not come easy against Chelsea's relentless efforts to hold back, the winner from Lewis Dobbin eventually settled it. He had just come on from bench to replace Jack Harrison.

Chelsea came out strongly making efforts to take down Everton's defense and that they could not get past. With the introduction of Amadou Onana, Sean Dyche effectively reinforced the defence line against repeated attacks from the likes of Cole Palmer and Kareem Sterling, who replaced Enzo Fernandes.

Good defensive play from Everton and the victory could not be convincing enough, well-deserved, and meticulously earned as they continued to consolidate on their position outside of the relegation zone.
