EFL Cup: Liverpool Humble West Ham In Six-Goal Thriller To Reach Semi-final
Liverpool are through to the semi-finals of the EFL Carabao Cup in well-dominated match that ended 5-1 against West Ham at Anfield.
Dominik Szoboszlai gave Liverpool the lead with an individual effort after Jarrel Quansah offloaded a pass onto him and smashed the ball from 20-yards through to beat Alphonse Areola. Curtis Jones added in the second goal steering a left-foot shot home from a difficult angle after Darwin Nunez's pass picked him up in the box.
West Ham complicated their situation as a defensive flop let the ball off to Ibrahima Konate to latched onto in a fast break and released a pass to Cody Gakpo, who unleashed a shot from the edge of the box to beat Areola.
Jarrod Bowen helped pulled one back for West Ham with a delightful finish of Ben Johnson's lob and guided a shot home whilst challenged by Quansah and Konate.
Mo Salah then made it fourth for the Reds breaking loose in a fast break to beat Areola to the goal. Jones followed with his second and the fifth goal in a quick break and rifled the ball from the edge of the box to the goal.
Salah goal wil make it his 11th goal against West Ham as Liverpool continue to the semi-final vying for the EFL Cup silverware amidst heated race for the Premier League title with rivals like Arsenal and Manchester City.

From the first half, West Ham had shown to be the weak side with liverpool coming into the box repeatedly and narrowly kept the goal margin slim.Meanwhie, the Reds enjoyed the better slice of the period in term of shots on target and control as West Ham kept deep in their own half.
West Ham were bnot better off after halftime and the game was meant to witness even more goals with the side unable to push back on the their opponents offensive play. Rather, they maintained being defensive to stay in the game and that did not stop unrelenting Liverpool from getting goals.
