Champions League: Man. City's Youngsters Shine As They Beat Red Star Belgrade To Finish Atop Group
Manchester City are through to the knockout of the Champions League on a cleansheet after holding a late comeback to defeat Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) 3-2 on the last match of Group G.
City's youngster, Jude Hamilton put the side ahead when he received Mattheus Nunez's pass and darted into the box, rounded two defenders before unleashing the ball to beat Omri Glazer. The second goal followed midway after halftime as Oscar Bobb curled home Rico Lewis' pass from inside the box.
Crvena pulled one back in a fast break as Hwang In-beom finished off Osman Bukari's pass before City added in the third goal from a penalty converted by Kalvin Philips. With minutes left to play in the injury time, Aleksandar Katai nodded a corner past Oscar Ortega for the side's second goal.
Having finished bottom of the table, Red Star are technically out of the competition as City progressed to the Last 16 in defense of the title that they won for the first time last season.
