Anthony Joshua Wins Against Otto Wallin, As Deontay Wilder Gets Smacked By Joseph Parker
Anthony Joshua is back. Unfortunately, Deontay Wilder is not after losing his fight with Joseph Parker in a unanimous decision. For the Briton, Otto Wallin had a difficult night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and lost out as fighter's corner stand withdrew from fight.
The American and Joshua for the first time fought on the same wild card with separate fighters with the anticipations that the pair will come out of their bouts victorious. Had that happened, Wilder and Joshua would be set for a face off for the first time. Since, that did not happen, the bout between the pair is now in doubt.
"I'm so happy to see him smiling and performing so well. He's back, he's destroying people in sparring," said Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn. "He's a dangerous man in that mood."
Wilder struggled through the rounds without making much threats on Parker, who for much of rounds, pounced on the American even to almost flooring him. As the fight lasted through 12-round, it was obvious that the former WBA heavyweight champion was wasted from the fight. Parker scored the most points, 118-111, 118-110 and 120-108 to win the fight.
Deontay Wilder suffered a stunning defeat to Joseph Parker in Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaAt the same time in a separate fight, Joshua was giving his Swede opponent an unpleasant fight and inflicted injuries on him; the second round was a nightmare for Wallin who was left with bloody nose from multiple of hooks landing on his face.
As it continued to seemed as Wallin was not going to stand a chance with Joshua, and while his patched-up nose was yet blooding from another right hook from the third round, the fighter's corner threw in the towel and the fight ended in five-round.
"When I pray, every cell and my spirit is leading to victory. It's a treacherous business," said Joshua. "It's like snakes and ladders, one win gets you up the ladder, one defeat puts you straight down."
