Premier League: Anthony Jordan's Goal Wrench Arsenal's Unbeaten Run At Newcastle United

Arsenal had a disappointing trip to Newcastle United as their unbeaten run was squashed in 1-0 loss, a defeat that witnessed VAR's decision-making aptitude being put to the test.

After a goalless first half, Newcastle took the lead in the early stages of the second half as Anthony Jordan rifled home past David Raya following Joelinton's deflection of Joe Willock's cross to his reach before an empty net.

In what was controversial moments for Arsenal, Jacob Murphy's cross was deemed already out of play which Joe Willock kept in play, and Joelinton's aerial challenge for the ball in close range was deemed a foul. Nevertheless, VAR upheld Jordan's goal anyhow.

The defeat ended Arsenal's eleven unbeaten run as their Premier League title race got heated up and Newcastle continued with their through five games.

Quick Overview

What an electrifying through and through for both sides? Sliced up between both sides, it was not a bad football just that somebody just had to win and that happened to be Newcastle.

Newcastle got the job done on their only attempt at Arsenal's goal in the second half and that was an offshoot of tactical changes made by Eddie Howe. Though, Jacob Murphy who replaced Miguel Almiron did scored the goal, his cross facilitated the build up to the stunner. Both Murphy and Willock were just brought on.

The hosts kept their defence well enforced and Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka could not work their ways through. Any lose attention to the balls would have got Arsenal the need goals to get past Newcastle.

It was a well-deserved victory for Newcastle neither was Mikel Arteta's side humiliated as they continue to bid for the top spot of EPL table led by Tottenham.
