EFL Cup: Arsenal Are Out As West Ham Progress To Quarter-finals
Arsenal have been removed from the EFL Carabao Cup after losing 3-0 to West Ham at home in what turned out to be the side's second defeat this season in all competitions.
Hammers were more athletic and came all out to attack Arsenal to earn a well-deserved victory and progressed to the quaterfinals of the competition. It was not the best of goalkeeping from Aaron Ramsdale as two goals came off defensive flop.
The hosts took the lead from Ben White's own goal after nodding home Jarrod Bowen's cross from a corner and they doubled the lead five minutes after halftime as Mohammed Kudus stroke the ball from Nayef Aguerd's cross to beat Ramsdale fron inside the box.
Arsenal did not recover the deficit despite changes made Mikel Arteta by bringing on Declan Rice and Takehiro Tomiyasu, rather Hammers added in the third from Bowen's 20-yard shot that beat Ramsdale to the goal. Arsenal, in the injury, got their consolation goal from Martin Odegaard following Fabio Vieria's assist.
Besides the own-goal, David Moyes's men did incredible job at defeating Arsenal and the second resulted from Nayef Aguerd's deep 50-yard cross into the box which Kudus carefully finished off. Bowen's goal was not lesser than a neat finish either for capitalizing on White's poor header clearance.
