Champions League: Man. United Drop To Bottom After Losing To Copenhagen

Manchester United needlessly ruined their chance to beat Copenhagen as the Danish side made a stunning rally from behind to claim 4-3 victory against 10-man United and sent them to the bottom of the group.

The seven-goal thriller started off with Rasmus Holjund's easy finish of Scott McTominay's cross and he doubled the lead finishing off Garnacho's rebound following a counter inspired by Bruno Fernandes.

Soon after Marcus Rashford got red carded for a rough tackle, Mohammed Elyounoussi tapped home Gonclalves's pass. The equalizer followed into the added minutes of the first half, as Diogo Goncalves scored from a penalty drawn from Harry Maguire's handball.

United regained the lead after halftime break as Fernandes scored from a penalty and the Danes responded with an equalizer as Lukas Lerager tapped home Rasmus Falk's cross with seven minutes remaining. The winning followed soon as Roony Bardghji was left unmarked to volley the ball past Andre Onana after he was picked up by a superbly guided cross from Thomas Sorensen.

It was a disappointing end for United to watch their lead from the first half slid away, casting doubt over their chance of reaching the knockout stages as their opponents now stand better chance to with four points.

Quick Overview

United lost the game by their own doings which could have been avoided. This is the Champions League and game officials might not take some tackles likely. Unfornately for United, having to play 10-man for losing a key player like Rashford proved too costly and set off the eventful loss.

Copenhagen effectively exploited the situation for having to win the game which rendered futile United's progress earlier into the game from Rasmus Holjund's double. Making it worse for United, Harry Maguire's handball offence handed out a penalty to the Danish side. It initiated the comeback that was completed by 17-year-old player, Roony.

Both goals scored by the Danish side resulted from capitalising on United's loose defense. Lukas and Roony were left well unmark and unhindered enough to take both shots. They could not ask for a better chance to score. The goals came in handy to Copenhagen.

As it is, United chance of making it out of Group A has become slimmer as Copenhagen rose to second with four points behind leaders. Bayern Munich.
