Champions League: Galatasaray Make Stunning Comeback To Draw Against Man. United
Making the knockouts might just be hanging in the balance for Galatasaray after playing 3-3 draw against Manchester United in Instabul as United's hope of progressing to the next stage is jeopardised.
United's early lead from Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes' goal were first challenged when Hakim Ziyech pulled one back from a free-kick after half hour of play.
Shortly after halftime, Scott McTominay added to United's lead with the third goal by sliding to tap home Aaron Wan-Bissaka's cross after one-two touch with Anthony. Ziyech responded to the lead once again by scoring from the free-kick drawn by Fernandes.
The game eventually finished in a draw when Ziyech's cross found Muhammed Akturkoglu for the finish and he rifled the ball to be Andre Onana to the top corner of the goal.
Having drawn the game, the hosts moved up Group A to second place with five points behind Bayern Munich, who leads with 12 points. United remained at the bottom behind Copenhagen on equal points (4).
Quick Overview
An interesting and disappointing game it was for United in the manner their opponents rallied to force a draw that is a setback to their hope of making it through to the knockouts.
United seemed poised for a comfortable game until Galatasaray gradually stepped up the game and found courage in Ziyech's double that brought them back into the game twice. Hence, United were overran by their hosts as the game got heated up.
Neither of the comeback moments resulted from defensive flops, rather it was great display of skills from the former Chelsea attacking midfilder, Ziyech followed by another classic finish from Akturkoglu. However, both goals from free-kick really caught Onana unaware.
United on their part, did not do badly as they were up against a well experienced side which has players like Wilfried Zaha and Mauro Icardi in its starting lineup.
