Champions League: Erling Haaland Nets Two As Man. City Thrash Young Boys
Manchester City kept it a clean sheet against Young Boys as they won 3-0 at Etihad Stadium which further guaranteed their qualification to the knockout stages.
All the goals came in the first half with Erling Haaland contributing two goals, in between the goal was one from Phil Foden.
Haaland converted a penalty to put the side ahead before Foden neatly finished Jack Grealish's cross for the second goal. The scoresheet was later completed with an individual effort from Haaland on the brink of halftime break.
City now lead Group G with 12 points which is just enough to get them through to the knockout stages. For Young Boys, they sit at the bottom of the table with one point.
Quick Overview
Young Boys did not seemed as the side that can cause a scare to City. To make it worse for their chance of hanging on, they went deficit of one man after Sandro Lauper was red carded.
City could not have been troubled by the game even if it went the other way. That would be a tough one to earn for the Swiss side with Phil Foden and Erling Haaland at the front with Karl Walker at the back. Technically, Young Boys were set to lose just as they did in their first leg.
Haaland's goals extended his tally to four in this campaign. He could have completed a hat-trick if not that he was replaced in the second half. City were generally comfortable especially through the second half.
