Brazilian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen Wins As Fernando Alonso And Sergio Perez Leave Thriller To Final Lap
It was yet another Brazilian Grand Prix victory for Max Verstappen at the Sprint race in Interlagos which saw a chaotic start, and later on, a thrilling between Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez.
Verstappen dominated the race through and through but that was not to say that he was not challenged by Lando Norris before regaining control of race after pressure from the McLaren driver settled.
Lewis Hamilton could make any impressive race for Mercedes and George Russell was retired over potential engine failure after doing 59 laps. Meanwhile, they were not alone as Charles Leclerc crashed out while moving his car on the formation lap. Starting off the grid, Alex Albon and Kevin Magnussen collided and both got reired.
The thrilling stage of the race was later set off between Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez as they battled for podium from Lap 70 to the chequered flag. The former later pipped the Red Bull driver to the finish line by 0.053s. In the second place behind Verstappen for podium position was Norris.
Mercedes for some reason, could not get their pace up after the race was red flagged following the crash, which Hamiltonlater on blamed on his care being "inconsistent throughout the laps".
It was Verstappen second race victory at Interlagos, and with two laps remaining into the season, it is already a wrap for Verstappen who had been declared F1 champion for the third successive time.
