Mexico Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton Makes Podium As Max Verstappen Wins 16th Race
Max Verstappen has reached a record 16th race victory in a single F1 season after winning this weekend's Mexican Grand Prix ahead of Lewis Hamilton for his fifth at the circuit.
Mercedes witnessed an improved performance with podium appearance from Hamilton and Charles Leclerc finished in third for his fourth podium finish this year. Meanwhile, Verstappen had a dominant lead from start to finish.
The race was a bit chaotic for Red Bull and Ferarri as Sergio Perez ran into Leclerc, spun off the track and was retired from the race. Midway the laps, Haas' Kevin Magnussen also ran into the barrier and crashed his car. Red flag was soon out for a restart.
Verstappen showed great display of drving skill from the start for having to charged past the two Ferraris at the front; Leclerc was the pole-setter followed by Carlos Sainz in P2. Again, at the restart, the two Ferraris swiftly raced behind him with Hamilton in between the two. Sainz, in the end, finished fourth.
There was obviously improvements on Mercedes and Ferrari and with three grand prix remaining to the end of the season, there are chances for the two cars to challenge Verstappen on the tracks. In terms of performance, Lando Norris did a great job for having to improve from P17 and come up the ranks to finish in fifth ahead George Russell.
