Lionsgate Announces Digital Release of Expendables 4 As Films Mellow At Box Office

As firms continues to mellow at the box office, Lionsgate has announced to will bring its latest film, Expendables 4 to home viewers on digital download, rent, and on VOD from Friday, 13 October.

The all-star action-thriller has not been faring fairly well at the box office despite starring actors like Sylvester Stallone, rapper 50 Cent, and Jason Statham. Compared to its predecessors, Expendable 4 is considered the slowest instalment of the franchise having grossed $40million worldwide since its release on 22 September, 2023.

As the impact of the strike of script writers and actors continue to tell harshly on films' performance in the domestic market, last weekend was not yet that big-money spinning box office you would have expected. Atop last weekend chart was Universal's The Exorcist: Believer and followed by Paramount's PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. Both of the films grossed $23.4m and $11.3m respectively from the North American market.

Likewise, Lionsgate's newly-released Saw X which made impressive $18.3m to be second on the chart on debut weekend, and now in its second weekend, it dropped one place to be third with $7.8m. That being said, it debut anyway was below average performance for a series of the franchise.

It, however, was not all that bad with Saw X, considering Jigsaw ($16.6m) and Spiral ($8.8m), both of which are spinoffs from the series, X so far has fairly done well.
