FIA To Revisit Investigation Of Lewis Hamilton Walking Off Live Track In Qatar
It was just a walk across as it might seemed but that was a breach of FIA regulations for Lewis Hamilton. He is now under investigation for taking a walk past live track after colliding with his teammate, George Russell during the Qatar Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen had been declared the F1 2023 season champion for the third time at the Sprint race ahead of the final race in Qatar, which the Red Bull driver won for his 13th race victory this season. Starting off the grid was, however, chaotic for Mercedes as Hamilton ran into Russell and spun off track. His car was damaged and was retired from the race.
Whilst Russell continued, Hamilton jumped out of his car and walked off the track. He was later fined by the stewards after investigation. The FIA is is now investigating him further for the dangerous act of walking off a live track, and as the body's statement had it, he is being investigated for the second time being a "role model" that he is.
"The FIA is revising the incident in which Lewis Hamilton crossed a live track during the Qatar Grand Prix," said the body in a statement. "However, innview of his role model status, the FIA is concerned about the impression his actions may have created on younger drivers."
Hamilton, who was reprimanded and fined £43,350 for his offences by the stewards, admitted his wrongdoings and apologised. Russell later finished fourth during the race which Verstappen won.
