Champions League: Erling Haaland Gets Two As Man. City defeat Young Boys
Manchester City claimed a convincing 3-1 victory against Young Boys with Erling Haaland bagging two goals to lead the side through.
Manuel Akanji nudged home a loose ball from Ruben Diaz's header that clipped the crossbar and Meschak Elia equalised the scores with a lovely lob that beat Ederson to the goal.
Erling Haaland restored City in the lead scoring from a penalty drawn from Ali Camara's handball. Haaland later scored the third goal from a superb stroke of the ball from the edge of the 18-yard box into the far corner of the net.
City remained unbeaten in three games and are atop Group C with 9 points. More so, they have remained unbeaten in five successive UEFA Champions League games, their first time since 2021.
Quick Overview
The grill started in the second half with goals thrilling moments that witnessed more aggression from the hosts with efforts to make an impression on the game.
Young Boys showed great character by the way they got back in the game after the opening goal. They seemed fired up and City were not the side they can get a point off like that.
The tactics of the hosts to deploy counter with Elia at the front was not effective enough to take down City's defense. That, however, was not to say that their equalizer was short of superb finish from Elia. Ederson could not manage getting to stop his lob.
City were fairly moderate with the Swiss side and Haaland's second goal was a classic finish. Letting him curled a shot like that would beat any goalkeeper.
