The Nun II Tops Slow Weekend At Box Office

As strikes lingers on in the North America film industry, this weekend is not the best of time at the box office. What films have grossed so far are not the figures familiar - it is unlike it for the domestic.

What might have led to the situation is blamed on the protracted strike by Hollywood scriptwriters and actors as reports have had it. Films recently released like Expend4bles and A Haunting In Venice are affected and could only get a handful of gross from the domestic market.

Of all the top five films for this weekend, each grossed less than £10m and that includes Lionsgate's debuting film, Expend4bles - it was not what would have been expected of a film starring Slyvester Stallone, 50 Cent Jason Statham, and even female rapper, Megan Stallone.

Expend4bles came neatly close to top this weekend chart in second with $8.3m, trailing Warner Bros' The Null II which top the chart with $8.4m on its third weekend at the box office.

In third was 20 Century's A Haunting In Venice with $6.3 and following in fourth was Densel Washington's The Equalizer 3 with $4.7m. As the figures go, it can be taken as a slow weekend even month.

However, it does not take away the fact that films like Barbie which made $3.2m this weekend is highly successful for Warner Bros, and likewise, Universal Picture's Oppenheimer which only grossed $1.6m, bringing its global cume to $321m.
