Singapore Grand Prix: Carlos Sainz Shines As Max Verstappen Misses Podium
Delightful moment for Ferrari as Carlos Sainz wins the Singapore GP for the second time in his F1 career amidst contest from McLaren's Lando Norris and the Mercedes duo.
Interestingly, the Red Bull duo, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were missing on the podium in Singapore. The pair dropped out of Q3 starting 10 of the qualifying session as Liam Lawson beats Verstappen's time to start in P10 whilst the defending champion dropped to P11 and his mate to P12.
Back to the final, Sainz, who poled from Saturday, dominated the race and put Norris to work on DRS as the British charged on for podium contest in final stages of the race. Meanwhile, George Russell, who was also racing up in third met a disappointing fate for running into the barrier at Turn 10 and was out.
The Mercedes driver was keeping tabs on his countryman, Norris as they trailed behind Sainz for the final stages for a showdown to the chequered flag. That hope to overtake, however, did not happen as Sainz remained in the lead to win Ferrari's first race of the season.
Lewis Hamilton got a leap to third after Russell's incident and following him in fourth was Ferarri's Charles Leclerc.
Red Bull might be having a challenging race but it was not all that bad for the team as Verstappen improved to P5.. Furthermore of the eventful race, was that AlphaTauri's Liam lived up to his performance from the qualifying session and finished in 10th position to score his first F1 point.
