Premier League: Joel Matip's Error Wrench Liverpool's Hold As Tottenham Win

What a difficult game it was for Liverpool as they lost 2-1 to Tottenham at White-Hart Lane with a late error from Joel Matip and having to played two-man down?

Spurs was handed a cooling effect after Curtis Jones was sent off for rough tackle in the early stages of the game and the hosts responded with Son Heung-min finishing off Richarlison's pass and put the side ahead.

A good combination of efforts from MacAllister and Szoboszlai saw a neat cross for Virgil van Dijk to nod down to Gakpo, who turned on the ball and slammed home the equaliser. It was just in the last minutes of the added minutes to the first half.

With just seconds left into the injury time of the second half, Pedro Porro's was deflected in and Spurs took the victory.

It was a highly emotional loss for Liverpool despite efforts to keep the scoreline as it was for a point apiece for both sides. The last minutes goal was Spurs' second in a row in a home game - forthnight ago, they scored two 90th minute goals to beat Burnley 2-1.

Quick Over View  of the Game

It was such an electrifying game  full of suspense, and smeared with disappointments of red cards. That was not to say that, both sides were up to the task except the game of chance that saw Tottenham walking with the victory.

By no means was Liverpool broken by having to play 9-man for a handful part of the second half. Curtis Jones had got red carded from the first half, moments after which Luiz Diaz's goal was ruled out for offside. If not for an error from Matip in the last minutes of injury time, Jurgen Klopp's changes would have paid off.

Great display of good morale for defending from the visiting side, and likewise, quick adjustments to hold off fate that eventually showed up in last minutes from the deflection of Pedro Porro's cross.
