Novak Djokovic Wins 24th Grand Slam At US Open

Novak Djokovic is the champion of the US Open after a sensational final that saw Daniil Medvedev defeated in three sets, 6-3 7-6(5) 6-3.

Medvedev, on his part, is one-time US Open champion and was on a rally to hold off Djokovic in the second set tiebreak at 4-5 when the second seed won straight three set points. That was the distressing set for Djokovic who had to deal with some physical conditions at the time.

"I'm really living my childhood dream to compete at the highest level of this sport," said Djokovic.

Earlier expectations was that, the 36-year-old was on course for a final set up with Carlos Alcaraz until the semi-finals when Medvedev outclassed the Spaniard in four sets, 7-6(3) 6-1 3-6 6-3.

Reaching the milestone of 24th grand slam title seemed never coming until Novak Djokovic played his 100th match at Flushing Meadows routing the Russian opponent to win his fourth US Open title.

A remarkable feat it was for the Serb who now levels with retired Australian women's tennis player, Margaret Court on all-time biggest grand slam titles with 24.
