Champions League: Bayern Munich Get Big Win Against Man. United
Bayern Munich got a deserved victory against Manchester United for a good start off into group stage of the Champions League after winning 4-3 at home.
United's loss was somewhat deserving as they trailed two goals within a space minutes in the first half after a good start to the game.
Leroy Sané opened the scoresheet following a one-two passing with Harry Kane and stroke the ball just well enough to beat Onana. The second followed four minutes later as Serge Gnabry steered home a cut-back from Jamal Musiala.
Upon their return from break, United scored their first from Rasmus Hojlund from Marcus Rashford assist. That was soon followed by a penalty from Harry Kane for Christian Eriksen's handball offense and Bayern added in the third goal.
Matthys Tel clinically finished off Joshua Kimmich's cross and Bayern extended goals to fourth. Casimero later swept home United second goal before nodding home Bruno Fernandes' free-kick in injury time.
Quick Over View of the Game:
United were into the game quite well from the start and making efforts to crack Bayern's defence. It seemed as if they game was going to end in deadlock.
Bayern gradually began to poke on United's defence as they got a grip on the midfield, and soon, a one-two move of the ball between Sané and Kane caught Onana just unaware.
Having gone one goal down, there was a bit of frustration in the United team and when Musiala broke deep into the left flank, a neat put-back landed just right for Gnabry to strike.
Musiala gave United a lot of work and Sané repeatedly tried to get a second but his attempts either was stopped or struck the goal post. The later part of the first half was in the hosts' control.
United did not get better after all in the second half, and soon after Hojlund's goal, everything went quiet on their side as Rashford was kept at bay.
For second half later witnessed two avoidable goals conceded by United. First, was the penalty for Eriksen's hardball offence, following later on was the winning goal from Tel, who was left unmarked and untroubled to finish off a lob from Gnabry. Tel's finish was a show of good composure in the box.
The introduction of Anthony Martial brought some freshness into United and the second goal was an initiative from the England forward. Probably, Martial should have come in five minutes earlier than he did as players like Casemiro and Rashford got fired up unlike before.
Bayern deserved the victory and a draw would not have done justice to the efforts of players like Sané, Gnabry, and Kane. Thomas Muller showed he yet has got power in his legs as he nearly got one in.
