Oppenheimer Crosses Half A Billion Mark As Barbie Tops $1b

After three weekends, Oppenheimer remained a top earner at the box office and has reached even more impressive milestone with a worldwide gross that has crossed the half a billion dollar benchmark. 

As at Sunday, the film was estimated to have added $28.7 million to the domestic market which totalled its domestic sales at $228 million, and adding that up globally, its worldwide sales now stands at $552 million. 

The film remains a strong contender but was third at the weekend box office behind Barbie and Meg 2: The Trench which made its debut with $30 million in the domestic market. 

Barbie is in a league of it's own as the film crossed a billion dollar benchmark ($1.03 billion) after adding $459 million globally on its third weekend to its previous worldwide title sales of $572.1 million.  The film topped the weekend box office ahead of newly released Meg 2: The Trench which was in #2 and Teeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in fourth with $28 million. 

Robert Oppenheimer, a story about an American physicist, who is credited for the making of the first atomic bomb, is the at the centre of the film named after him, Oppenheimer and like the military general, Lt. Gen. Leisle Groves who appointed him to lead a team of physicists.
