Neymar Says Transfer "Not For Money" As Al-Hilal Unveil Player's Signing
Al-Hilal has unveiled their newly-signed forward, Neymar Jr. who says he did not join the club "for the money" following the signing of a two-year contract with the Saudi Pro League side.
Paris Saint-Germain sold the Brazilian to the Saudi side for £77.6m despite signing him for a world record fee of £200m from Barcelona in 2017. Meanwhile, the player is set to earn six-time his wages at PSG as he will receive an annual salary of £129.4m from the contract.
Speaking on his transfer, the 31-year-old described the Saudi Pro League as one of the leagues where "tremendous" energetic football "with quality players" is happening.
He added: "I have achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places."
Neymar's stint at PSG was marred with frequent desire to leave which was often rejected by the club until this summer when they obliged to his request. He was tagged for fee ranging between £60m - £80m.
Whilst speculations were suggesting he might return to Barcelona or join his former team-mate Lionel Messi in the American MLS Pro League, he opted for Al-Hilal instead.
