Chelsea Striker, Romelu Lukaku Joins Roma On Loan
Romelu Lukaku has returned to the Italian Serie A where he will join Jose Mourinho at AS Roma after the club agreed a loan transfer with Chelsea.
The Belgian forward has not made an appearance with Chelsea since the start of the season and spent last season in loan spell at Inter Milan after he confessed that he was not happy at the club.
A deal was reported agreed with Roma after the club officials met with their counterparts in London. Eventually, a loan contract was reached and it is understood to worth £8million for one season.
It became tiring for Chelsea not to sell the player after it was learned that he refused to get along with the new manager, Mauricio Pocchettino and that he was not training with his teammates.
It is also believed, according to separate source, that the loan comes with a release clause of £37million should Roma want to buy next summer. Furthermore, the loan transfer is expected to see a slight drop in the player's wages of £325,000-a-week.
Lukalu will reunite with his former manager, Mourinho under whom he played for Manchester United. The 30-year-old player, however, was signed to Chelsea for £97.5million in 2021.
