Chelsea Sign Midfielder From Southampton
Chelsea have signed another midfielder to further bolster the team, and this time, it is a teenage player, Romeo Lavia from Southampton.
The signing of Romeo was finalised Friday as he scribbled his signature to a seven-year contract reportedly worth £53 million. This is coming just after the signing of Moises Caicedo to a British record fee of £115 million.
Speaking on his move to Stanford, the 19-year-old attributed his desire to join the London-based side to "the history, project, and of the ambitions of the club."
He added: "It's really exciting to be a part of this football club and to write some history. I'm really happy and proud. It's a privilege to be able to put on this shirt."
The Belgian will join players like Endo Fernandes and Caicedo to contend for regular appearance in the midfield. Fernandez already made his debut appearance on the side's opening game 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
