Wimbledon: Jannik Sinner To Meet Novak Djokovic In Maiden Grand Slam Semi-final

Novak Djokovic stormed back from a shocker from the opener and saw off Russian opponent, Andrey Rublev in four sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Earlier, Italian player, Jannik Sinner outlasted Roman Safiulin in straight sets to reach his maiden Grand Slam semi-final set up against Djokovic.

Winning the tournament holds a lot for Djokovic, in the sense that he would equal the record set by Roger Federer for most winner with eight titles, and also he will level with record set by retired women's player, Margaret Court for most Grand Slam with 24 titles.

Having said that, the starting of the match did not go Djokovic even though he tried to rally at 2-1 after the Russian concerted a break point, he yet lost the set to a backhand error.

Expectations of Rubley causing a scare soon changed as Djokovic eased through the second set and the remaining to sets to win the four-set. It is interesting to say, that Rubley could not convert any more break point advantage thereafter and hit a total of 32 winners and 25 unforced errors.

However, the second seed had some kind words for younger player in post match interview, and urged them not to be discouraged by the "pressure of not winning" despite playing for many year. He even confessed to having to deal with pressure from the sport especially from the Centre Court at Wimbledon.

The victory extended Djokovic unbeaten run to 33rd consecutive matches at Wimbledon and he will meet Italian ace, Jannik in the semi-final.
